Particleworks

Specifically designed for simulating the behavior of liquid-based particles in complex flow environments used to analyze applications such as lubrication, sprays, and fluid-structure interactions.

Revolutionize Fluid Dynamics with Particleworks™

Particleworks is advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software leveraging the Moving Particle Simulation (MPS) method to model complex fluid behaviors. So it is designed to tackle challenges involving free surfaces, liquid sloshing, splashing, and fluid-structure interactions. Its user-friendly interface allows engineers to set up and analyze simulations without requiring extensive CFD expertise. Key features include the ability to simulate phenomena like lubrication, cooling, and mixing processes with high accuracy. So the software seamlessly integrates with other CAE tools, enhancing workflow efficiency and comprehensive analysis. ParticleWorks excels in scenarios where traditional grid-based CFD methods fall short, offering a robust and versatile solution for engineers and designers working on complex fluid dynamics projects.

MPS Method

The Moving Particle Simulation method is used in Particleworks for accurate simulation of free-surface flows and fluid-structure interactions. Each particle follows the laws of physics, allowing precise modeling of complex phenomenas like splashing, sloshing, and mixing.

Multi-GPU acceleration

Particleworks solver can be parallelized on multi-core and multi-GPU hardware. While it runs on CPU-based cores, using GPUs with many CUDA cores is recommended for acceleration. A single advanced GPU can perform as efficiently as 100-500 CPU cores. Multi-GPU support further reduces simulation times by leveraging additional GPUs.

High-Resolution Refinement

Defining high-resolution regions with smaller particle sizes to adapt simulation resolution to specific needs is enabled. These regions can be expansions of geometrical elements or user-defined volumes. By reducing particle size only in critical areas, such as gaps between e-motor end-windings or gear meshing, simulation times are optimized and reduced.

Non-Newtonian Fluids

Particleworks effectively handles highly viscous and non-Newtonian fluids. It supports user-defined functions or tabulated viscosity (shear and temperature-dependent) and includes dedicated models for specific materials like chocolate, snow, and grease.

Air Simulations

Finite Volume Method (FVM) solver for air is integrated in this software, utilizing an automatic Cartesian grid. This enables 2-way coupling between gas and fluid phases, with separate resolutions for fluid (MPS) and gas (FVM). Additionally, the Lattice-Boltzmann method is available for external aerodynamics, allowing grid refinement around specific bodies

Thermal Simulations

Evaluation of Heat Transfer Coefficient maps and Heat Fluxes for both oil and air phases is enabled. With the Conjugate Heat Transfer solver, solid temperatures can be monitored under various boundary conditions, including HTC maps from oil and air, heat sources, and initial temperature profiles in solids.

Lattice-Boltzmann Method

This method facilitates detailed aerodynamic simulations by modeling fluid dynamics at the mesoscopic level and enables grid refinement around specific bodies, providing high-resolution analysis of external aerodynamic flows.

Integration with CAE Tools

Efficient data exchange and workflow automation are enabled through integration with other CAE tools, while also supporting co-simulation with MathWorks Simulink and interfaces with popular CAD and CFD software.

User-Friendly Interface

The setup and analysis of complex simulations are simplified thanks to an intuitive design that allows for easily defining parameters, running simulations, and visualizing results without requiring extensive CFD expertise.
