Lectures and a plant visit for mechanical engineering students – cooperation of econ’s Automation Division and BME’s Design Department focusing on product design, automation, and robotization.
At the request of the Design Department of the BME (Budapest University of Technology and Economics) School of Mechanical Engineering, eCon Engineering Ltd. introduced mechanical engineering students to new technologies in industrial automation. Two lectures and a plant visit were held for the occasion. Following a lecture given by Tibor Meszes, head of econ’s automation division, at the university, a plant visit to the econ site was a key factor for future mechanical engineers to learn about the relationship between manipulation and machine vision. These are important areas in both control system engineering and robotics. During the tour, students were given an insight into the beauty and challenges of engineering and were also given the opportunity to learn more about practical internship possibilities in order to gain in-depth knowledge.
The second presentation covered the important topic of whether a robot is necessary or not, if so, whether it should be collaborative, what can help this decision, and how robotization fits into Industry 4.0.
