Our inaugural event for the new Econ Szimpulzus event series, launched this year, took place on March 20th. The focus was on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and related simulation projects, including their challenges and solutions. Special thanks to our guest speakers, Professor Dr. István Kistelegdi (Óbuda University) and Gábor Gönczi (Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant), for their high-quality and engaging presentations!
In the spirit of renewal and development, we launched a new engineering simulation event series this year called Econ Szimpulzus, with the aim of providing a platform for experts from both the competitive and academic spheres to discuss the development projects, challenges, and solutions within the thematic areas of each event. The first Econ Szimpulzus event took place on March 20th at the Econ Engineering office building, and based on feedback and professional discussions, it was a success. The thematic day, “Focus on Fluid Dynamics,” centered on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and various engineering simulation challenges related to fluid dynamics tasks, such as particle movement and heat transfer processes.
Following the opening remarks, Professor Dr. István Kistelegdi (Óbuda University) presented the architectural significance of aerodynamic design in terms of comfort and energy efficiency. Subsequently, Gábor Gönczi (Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant) shared his experiences regarding the structural investigations of the Budapest Central Wastewater Treatment Plant. The morning session concluded with a presentation by Dániel Laki and Márton Csernyus (Econ Engineering), which showcased different methods for the simulation of mixing technology tasks.
The afternoon program continued with the award ceremony for the fluid dynamics category of the 2024-’25 Econ Simulation Student Competition. The winner of the fluid dynamics category, Levente Sólyom (University of Pannonia), had the opportunity to briefly present his project to the audience. Following this, Ákos Horváth (Econ Engineering) gave a presentation on supporting the development of heat exchangers with thermal and fluid dynamics simulations. The final speaker of the professional program was Elizabeth Stadler (Econ Engineering), who presented the GPU revolution in CFD calculations.
The day concluded with an informal discussion where participants could exchange further experiences. Econ Engineering is committed to building the simulation community, the domestic simulation engineering profession, and satisfying professional curiosity. Therefore, we were very pleased that the first installment of Econ Szimpulzus was so positively received.
Thank you to all the speakers for their high-quality presentations and to the participants for their active interest! We warmly welcome everyone to the upcoming events of our Econ Szimpulzus event series!
