As a member of HUNSPACE, Econ is one of the companies featured in the newly published Space Kaleidoscope journal, which aims to provide insight into the diverse activities of the Hungarian space sector and briefly introduce the companies and organizations active in the sector.
The Space Kaleidoscope 2023/2024 is published by the Hungarian Astronautical Society (MANT), with the support of the Department for Space Policy and Space Activities of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the National Media and Infocommunications Authority. “The publication aims to provide insight into the various activities and projects of the Hungarian space sector. It presents the small and medium-sized enterprises, research centers, and university workshops involved in space research and activities in Hungary” László Bacsárdi, chairman of the editorial board, informs readers in his welcome speech.
The brochure, which features over 60 companies, organizations, and potential aerospace suppliers, includes two addresses. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szíjjártó, refers to the dynamic development of the space industry, and its resistance to the global economic crisis. He mentions the Hungarian Space Strategy, and its flagship project, the HUNOR (Hungarian to Orbit) Hungarian Astronaut Program. In her greeting, Orsolya Ferencz, Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research, gives a brief insight into the Hungarian space industry’s activities. She points out major projects, important achievements, and foreign cooperation. She also talks about the priority role of the next generation and related to this, the accredited master’s program launched at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).
Data and Companies in the Space Kaleidoscope
The Space Kaleidoscope was first published in 2019 and has been updated every two years since then. The data in the publication cover the fiscal year 2022. It includes the main research areas and technological competencies of the organizations presented. For the latter, it follows the European Space Agency (ESA) classification. As a result of the cooperation with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s College of Aerospace and Defense, those potential space industry suppliers who are not currently active in the space industry but are ready to do so at any time have also been included in the volume.
The publication is available in print, but can also be accessed and downloaded electronically via the links below.
