Econ held its 4th Simulation Study Competition this year. The goal of the competition for the 2024/25 academic year was to provide engineering students with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge in engineering simulations and gain professional experience. Once again, numerous exciting and high-quality submissions were received, from which the jury, composed of Econ’s engineers, awarded the most outstanding works.
2024/25 Simulation Competition Winners and Their Topics
Prizes were awarded in three categories during the competition, won by the following students:
- Fluid Dynamics Category Winner:
Levente Sólyom (University of Pannonia)
Supervisors: Dr. Zsolt Ulbert, Dr. Attila Egedy, Dr. Lajos Nagy
Topic: Modeling and Simulation of Fluidized Particle Beds - Polymer Category Winner:
Ferenc Kovács (Budapest University of Technology and Economics)
Supervisor: Sándor Kabai
Topic: Injection Molding Simulation Applied to the Redesign of a Railway Brake Metal Part into a Plastic Part - Mechanics Category Winner:
Viktor Fábián (University of Novi Sad)
Supervisor: Dr. Aleksandar Landovic
Topic: Simulation and Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Columns Strengthened with Steel Cage
Each winner receives a prize of HUF 100,000, which they can collect at the Econ Szimpulzus simulation forum corresponding to their project’s topic.
Award Ceremonies and Professional Presentations
The fluid dynamics-focused Econ Szimpulzus was held in March, where Levente Sólyom received his award and presented his work to the professional audience. Ferenc Kovács, the polymer category winner, will receive his award and present his project at the polymer-focused Econ Szimpulzus on September 18, while Viktor Fábián, winner of the mechanics category, will have the opportunity to do so at the mechanics-focused Econ Szimpulzus on November 13.
This opportunity is not only a recognition but also an excellent occasion for students to showcase their research results and build connections with industry professionals.
Thanks to All Participants
We hereby congratulate all participants who took on the challenge and submitted their entries this year. Econ Engineering is proud to support the development of the young engineering community and contribute to the spread, education, and advanced use of engineering simulations.
